The Minchin Croft Tank
This relaxed-fit, long-line V-neck tank top is worked in pieces from the bottom up, starting with a striped ribbing. A contrast-colour cable neckband using the Japanese short-row technique is worked separately (using charts or written instructions) and attached, before ribbing is added at the neck and armholes.
Croft was an early name for an enclosure, not as we now think a small farm in the Highlands of Scotland. The cable emulates the twinning hops which where grown in the fields in the 1840's a lucrative crop and important in this area at the time.
Knitted in our Hampshire 4ply yarn, which is lofty and has a silky feel once blocked, Hampshire yarn is a traditionally woollen spun yarn, with every single fleece being carefully sorted on the farm before being sent for washing and spinning in Yorkshire.
